We had a wonderful time at home during our journey through Surabaya. At first, there was a problem because we had reserved a double room that was intended for three persons via Papplication. Unfortunately, the papplications reservation process was highly uncertain about the extra person, so the receptionist urged us to pay more for the third person. After a brief conversation with the friendly manager, they completely covered up the extra charge and called Papplication to explain the problem for themselves. It was also very pleasant how professional and hospitable they were during this disagreement. This also highlighted the entire service attitude of the entire staff, which was particularly client-focused. The rooms are fantastic, and there is no fridge, huge comfy bed, or modern bathroom, etc. Very clean, roomy, and nicely furnished. The view from the terrace and the terrace was spectacular. We could have used the latter because there is a small fitness center and a playground for kids, but we didn't need it. We even took a full fried rice and curry breakfast as takeout because we left very early in the morning. It appears that this guesthouse is brand new and that the staff is still unspoiled. Just to recuperate from our lengthy vacation, we stopped by for one night on our way to Bromo. The employees were excellent, accommodating, and welcoming. Considering that my partner was French, I even believe they had some cheese mixed into the brunch since they were great and hospitable. The bathroom had a minor musky odor when it became wet, but this wasn't a major problem. Wi-Fi performed alright. We had time before our ride to linger, so we tried to see the few sights highlighted in the lonely planet guide. We managed the market, which was a pleasant spectacle, and the mosque, which, to be honest, was not especially attractive. The taxi ride from the hotel to the harbor, which is a considerable commotion, is quite lengthy, and it is a major nightmare. Nevertheless, the airport is rather quickly. The breakfast area, which lacked any views but was mostly our alternative, was fairly shabby Indonesian breakfast staple, with bread and cheese. But all in all, a really pleasant visit.

Even if the room itself was not that bad, they were really dirty and the bathroom very dirty. Staff doesn't speak English so they are helpful and friendly. The hotel is about 20-30 min from the city center about 6 USD one way. 15-20 min from the airport, so if you only need to spend the night, you might consider it.

In April 2013, my boyfriend and I stayed in the deluxe room, which is clean and large. The entire setting is cozy, and there are numerous channels to choose from! The accommodation has free and fast wifi, which is another plus point when we arrived there at the time. There was renovation going on, so there was some dust outside, but that's fine for us. The staff is all incredibly helpful and friendly and willing to assist us in any way they can. They speak straightforward English. The only drawback is its location. It is not near the city. The staff will call a taxi for you if you want to move. If you're just going to be in Surabaya for one day at a time, it is a lovely place to stay.
