During my two-week visit in November 2010 with an extended family of three to six people but at different times no children, I discovered a lot about this hotel. The most important fact is that it is a good value at 358 rmb $ 55 for a room per night. The hotel's level of quality fluctuates in proportion to the number of rooms requested. There are two distinct structures. The first night we arrived, we were shown deluxe vip rooms in the building across the street from the reception area. We rejected those rooms because they had a musty smell and the bathrooms were dim and dingy. We chose another room in the reception building. The hotel does not distinguish between smoking and non-smoking rooms. It is likely that you will find a smokey smell in your room, which can be tempered by airing and scenting because china has antismoking regulations. Many of the reviews for this hotel were written in 2008, and the photos are accurate, but look much better than the present, two years later. I was informed there is a renovation plan. The gym equipment, specifically treadmill indicators, did not function properly. Only the lobby has free wifi. Western tastes might not be suitable for a free breakfast. Despite these flaws, the employees were very polite and friendly, and we eventually stayed in comfortable, sunny, and spotless rooms

In December 2012, I stayed at the Mailord hotel for eight days. It is in a secure setting close to ximen university. As I do not speak Chinese, the welcoming doorman assisted me with translation. Since they are so inexpensive, I primarily use them, but at peak hours, getting a cab can be challenging. When I checked out, the front desk clerk requested a 200 rmb deposit in case the room was damaged and they were always friendly and helpful. In advance, the payment required a 200 rmb deposit in case of damage to the apartment. When you checked out, it was returned to you. At the front desk, a safe deposit box was available. At the front desk, a tealiquor store is present. The room was extremely comfortable. There was a large living room area with adequate cable to one or two English news stations. A huge window with a view of the city and the surrounding hills was there. There was a small refrigerator, slippers, and a tea kettle, the large bed was very comfortable and softer than most hotel mattresses in china. The bedroom also had a nice outlook. There was a separate, small balcony with a line for hanging clothes and a big kitchenstyle room with a heater and one pan. They said additional kitchen equipment was available for request. In April 2013, we stayed here. We left early for an overnight trip to the thou region, and returned a day later. The rooms we had originally booked were adequate, the thou room was fairly dusty but clean, and everything worked. When we returned from the thou, we were informed that a mistake had occurred with our reservation, and we were moved to the opposite wing, which we had hoped for ever since we arrived. The spacious apartments, or rather, apartments 2, turned out to be a helpful move. The four of us shared two double story apartments with computers, a sitting area, a refrigerator, etc., and two upstairs bedrooms. The wardrobes were lower, so you had to remember to take tomorrows clothes upstairs when retiring. The hotel dining room where we had breakfast was a little shabby, as usual in hotels not intended for foreign tourists, made no concessions to western taste, and only the conventional crepepicklesbuns were provided. The university and the huge temple complex are both conveniently located close to the hotel.

In October 2013 I stayed at the milord hotel in Ximen, China. In terms of advantages and drawbacks, there was only one other hotel nearby. It is unquestionably a Chinese, non-western hotel, which is excellent for me. A restaurant is very close to the hotel. The fitness facilities are excellent, but they didn't appear to know what to do with Westerners regarding access. No warning that you would need a bathing cap to swim. Cons The hotel's name was recently changed, and there are no signs with the new name visible. Taxi drivers had a hard time finding it. The hotel needs extensive renovations everywhere. Maintenance is varied from poor to just adequate. It could be a lot cleaner. Although the bed was very uncomfortable, I recognize that this is typical of Chinese beds. The hotel clerks couldn't speak English, so they used the google translate app. Despite numerous no-smoking signs, the majority of Chinese were smoking in the public areas. Again, this seems to be typical of China. Breakfast was nothing western, and noodles are not my thing in the morning.
