A very comfortable, clean room. Set off the street so it was quiet. Take away menu from the hotel was delicious. Staff were very friendly. We wouldnt hesitate to return on our next stop over.

Rock bottom price for the area. Only really suitable if you are travelling on a tight budget and even then I would only recommend a single overnight stay. The staff at the Shorty hotel are super friendly and the food/drink there is fantastic. In hindsight probably should have spent another $50 for something nicer.

If you're after a no fuss place to rest your head then you can't find a better place to stay in Newcastle. The check in is a breeze as Sam and the rest of the staff are super nice and easy to work with. The rooms (though basic) are a 10/10 for cleanliness, comfort and have everything you need. There's free parking on site (huge carpark). The wifi is free (no password required) there's air-conditioning, bar fridge kettle and TV in your room (microwave and toaster are available in the communal kitchen) I've been staying in one of the single shared bathroom for nearly 3 weeks and in all that time I've only ever seen another person in the bathroom three times since being here. The bed is really comfortable and even the single bed has 2 fluffy pillows. I can't recommend this place highly enough

I have stayed at Shortland hotel 3 times now and choose it because its proximity to the university of newcastle when i need to go there. The staff is friendly, but the building itself is a bit old. It doesn't really matter as I only go there to sleep. The bistro has good options where I purchase my dinners from every night. I would definitely recommend it to someone who is not looking for something elegant but rather a comfortable and inexpensive night

I was tired after a hard day driving from QLD. I was able to easily get a fantastic meal, check in, have a hot shower, check my emails with free WIFI, watch some TV in my room and have a great sleep. I will definitely go back there when I need to.

THe location was very close to our family in Shortland. Lovely bed. We didn't enjoy the dark grey walls and black carpet, but I see other rooms are painted a pleasant cream, so wé'll take a cream room next time.
