Thai Airways Company, Thai Airways, or THAI is an airline from Thailand that formed in 1988. The airline is based primarily at Suvarnabhumi Airport and headquartered in Vibhavadi Rangsit Road, Chatuchak District, Bangkok.

THAI is a founding member of the Star Alliance. The airline is the second-largest shareholder of the low-cost airline Nok Air with a 21.80 percent stake and launched a regional commercial airplane named Thai Smile in mid-2012 using the latest fleet of Airbus A320s.

In the beginning, Thai Airways was a joint venture between Scandinavian Airlines (SAS) and Thailand's domestic airline, Thai Airways Company. The purpose of this joint venture is to create an international wing for Thai Airways. SAS provides various training for operational, managerial, and marketing expertise. This was done so that the creation of a fully independent national airline in a short time.

Through this training, Thai citizens are gradually able to assume full managerial responsibility. Until finally, on May 1, 1960, the combined airline made the first commercial flights, and even flights operated to nine Asian destinations abroad.

The airline's first intercontinental service using Douglas DC-8 began in 1971 with flights to Australia, then to Europe the following year. Some larger Douglas DC-10 wide-body tri-jets were obtained in the 1970s and began flights to North America starting in 1980.

On April 1, 1977, after joining SAS for 17 years, the Thai government bought the remaining 15 percent of shares owned by SAS, and Thai Airways became wholly-owned airlines by the Thai government. In 2019, the company is owned by the Thai Ministry of Finance by 51 percent of the shares, while 47 percent of its shares released on the Thai Stock Exchange.

Premium Economy Class

The cabin design of the Premium Economy Class features a contemporary feel that reflects the subtle "mood" and spacious space. Passengers can relax in a larger chair that is 19 inches wide, with a 42-inch stretching room and 122 degrees backrest, plus wider armrests and armrests that can be controlled from the fingertips.

Thai Airways route

Thai Airways, including its subsidiaries, has flights to 84 destinations in 37 countries using 90 aircraft. The airline was once the operator of two of the longest non-stop routes in the world. The route is Bangkok - Los Angeles and Bangkok - New York City. However, due to high fuel prices, aircraft fleet withdrawals, baggage weight limits, and rising airline ticket prices, the airline no longer operates the non-stop route.

The Thai Airways route network dominated by flights to Europe, East Asia, and South/Southwest Asia. Thai Airways is the first Asia-Pacific airline to serve London Heathrow Airport. Based on the information that we received, the ticket refund process for Thai Airways (THAI/TG) is currently constrained and cannot be carried out because the airline is undergoing a rehabilitation process through the Central Bankruptcy Court in Thailand. Notwithstanding this, Thai Airways remains committed to extending the utmost attention and care to all customers who have pending ticket refund requests.

Refund

Refunds for Thai Airways both for cancelled ticket from the airline and as per request from the passenger are in accordance with the airline's regulations as follow:

• For refundable ticket: waiver of refund penalty is not permitted.
• For non-refundable ticket: only unused tax can be refunded.
• Thai Travel vouchers can be used for new flights with flight no. TG 3 & TG 4 operated by Thai Smile (WE)
• Thai Travel vouchers can be transferred to anyone with proof of documents (IDR 10,000 stamp / letter of attorney listed on the EMD / Travel Vouchers) indicated at the time of submission of the ticket

Open Ticket

The conditions for applying for an Open Ticket for Thai Airways are as follows:

Reschedule

The following are rescheduling provisions from Thai Airways:

• The new flight date available up to 31 December 2022.
• Reschedule/change fee will be waived.
• Fare differences and other additional charges (e.g. applicable taxes) will apply.
• Rescheduling conditions are subject to each airline policies and availability.

Reroute

• Submitting a re-route can be done while using the same airline.
• Submissions are made at the related airlines.
• Reroute / change fee will be waived.
• If the reroute ticket price is greater than the Thai Travel Voucher value given, the price difference will be paid by the passenger. If the ticket price is lower than the Thai Travel Voucher given, then the price difference will not be given to the passenger.
• Reroute conditions are subject to each airline policies and availability.
