Japan Airlines Features
Japan Airlines Co., Ltd. (JAL), also known as Nikkō, is a Japanese national airline headquartered in Shinagawa, Tokyo. The airline has main hubs at Tokyo Narita International Airport, Tokyo International Airport (Haneda Airport), and Osaka Kansai International Airport and Osaka International Airport. JAL Group companies include Japan Airlines, J-Air, JAL Express, Japan Air Commuter, Japan Transocean Air, ZIPAIR Tokyo, and Ryukyu Air Commuter for domestic feeder services, and JAL Cargo for cargo and mail services.
JAL Group operations include scheduled and unscheduled international and domestic passenger and cargo services to 220 destinations in 35 countries around the world, including codeshares lighting. The history of the establishment of Japan Airlines (JAL) began on August 1, 1951. At that time, the Japanese government established this airline intending to restore the world of Japanese transportation after World War II. International flights from this airline began on February 2, 1954, by taking the Tokyo route to San Francisco.
After more than three decades of service and expansion, the airline was fully privatized in 1987. In 2002, it joined the Japan Air System, Japan's third-largest airline, and became the sixth-largest airline in the world based on passengers transported. Japan Airlines is currently the official sponsor of the Japan Football Association, Japan's national soccer team, Shimizu S-Pulse, and the Sapporo Consadole. All Nippon Airways, the largest airline in Japan, is JAL's main competitor.
