All Nippon Airways Features
All Nippon Airways Co., Ltd. (ANA) or also known as Zennikkū, is the largest airline in Japan based on revenue and the number of passengers. The head office of the ANA airline is located in Shiodome City Center in the Shiodome area, precisely in the Minato neighborhood of Tokyo. The airline operates services for domestic and international destinations and had more than 20,000 employees as of March 2016.
ANA's earliest ancestor was the Japan Helicopter and Airplane Transports Company, also known as the Nippon Helicopter and Airplane, an airline founded on December 27, 1952. Nippon Helicopter was the source that later became the International Air Transport Association (IATA) airline code for airlines ANA, i.e., NH.
NH began helicopter services in February 1953, and on December 15, 1953, NH operated its first cargo flight on the Osaka and Tokyo routes using de Havilland Dove, JA5008. The cargo flight was the first scheduled flight flown by a Japanese pilot after the war. Passenger services on the same route began on February 1, 1954, with the airline being upgraded to de Havilland Heron in March. In 1955, Douglas DC-3 began flying to NH, and at that time, the flight route network was extended from northern Kyushu to Sapporo. In December 1957, the Nippon Helicopter changed its name to the All Nippon Airways Company.
ANA always improves its quality from year to year. At present, on January 29, 2019, ANA Holdings is buying 9.5% of the shares of PAL Holdings, the parent company of Philippine Airlines, for the US $ 95 million.
